This 10 day adventure is about using your 4 x 4 vehicle to access the beautiful French and Italian Alps, using old Military and salt roads, mountain trails and many "Col's"(mountain passes) to explore and see parts of the country only accessible by 4x4 and take in some of the French and Italian rural mountain culture. Pilgrims 4x4 Adventure tours abide by the GLASS code of conduct and operate a tread lightly policy even when abroad.

The Adventure will be an epic high Alpine off road driving experience, starting near Albertville and finishing near Nice, taking in some awesome mountain passes such as "Col du Sommellier", "Col du Parpaillon", "Col du Jaferrau" and "Colle D'elle Finestre" and the "via del Sale"as well as old military roads and ancient drovers/smugglers tracks. We will also explore many disused Forts.

Your adventure will start as soon as you reach the Rendezvous or start point which will be a well appointed camp site,

where you will  spend the evening discussing the itinerary with your guide and getting to know the rest of the group. The following morning the group will venture out into the mountains and the Adventure really begins! At the end of each day the group will either wild camp or use a well appointed campsite to camp before evening meal where you'll be able to relax and discuss the days Adventure and the next days proposed progress.

At times this trip will be physically and mentally demanding You will have to work as a team with the guides and fellow travellers to overcome any obstacles the mountains throw at you.

The 10 days start the morning after you reach the campsite, so your travel to and from is entirely your choice....you could travel in convoy with pilgrims 4x4 adventure tours, travel solo and take a leisurely couple of days to drive through France or hit it hard and take just 1 day which is just about doable!

There will be sections of road travel to get to and from the trails, but these will be as scenic as possible there will also be plenty of opportunities to stop, take in the stunning scenery, have a brew, and take pictures.

The routes are chosen to be as non-damaging as possible, some lanes will have vegetation that may lightly scratch paintwork. The terrain will be varied…. from forest tracks to fords and high Alpine passes with sheer drops to one or both sides! all of which you will be navigated to and guided through safely.

If you suffer from any form of vertigo this trip may not be for you......unless you want to try and push yourself through it!
